Labelled Sentinel-2 River Ice Dataset for the Peace, Athabasca, and Hay Rivers

The dataset was developed as part of research on automated river-ice monitoring for flood forecasting and emergency response. It includes True Colour Image (TCI) tiles, Sentinel-2 Band 08 near-infrared tiles, corresponding polygon label files, and a CSV file summarizing image-level class presence.

The imagery covers river-ice conditions from the Peace, Athabasca, and Hay Rivers. It includes nine classes: border ice, frazil pans, frazil slush, ice jam, ice run, intact ice, island/bar, open lead, and open water. The dataset is licensed under CC BY 4.0 Attribution and contains modified Copernicus Sentinel-2 data; users should provide appropriate attribution, including “Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data”, and cite the dataset DOI when using or redistributing the data.
