<p>(1) Primary rat mesencephalic cultures (+/- microglia) were used to investigate the neuroprotective effects of AZP2006 following injury with dopaminergic mitotoxins (6OHDA (48h) MPP<sup>+</sup> (48h), rotenone (24h) and α-syn PFF toxicity (48 or 96h).

(2) SH-SY5Y cells + /- PGRN knock-out were applied to understand the mechanism of action of AZP2006 and its effects on lysosomal function following MPP<sup>+</sup> (48h) or α-syn PFF toxicity (72 h).
(3) Aged mice were administered with α-syn PFF into the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) and the neuroprotective effects of daily administration (p.o.) of AZP2006 (for 5 weeks from the day of lesion) were assessed.</p> <p>(TIF)</p>
