Specimens of marine invertebrates collected in coastal areas by environmental monitoring (1973–2000), housed at the University Museum of Bergen

The material was collected in the years 1973-2000 and later deposited at the University Museum of Bergen (UMB) as documentation of species records and as a resource for research in biosystematics. Datasets from environmental monitoring are important documentation of species occurrences in time and space, and such datasets are of particular interest when specimens have been deposited in Museum collections as this will allow for future revisions and updates of species occurrence data.

The material is stored as bulk samples of main taxon (e.g. polychaeta) from a given locality, typically a grab sample, and represents an important collection, although not with the same status as the traditional taxonomic Museum collection.
