Laboratory friction measurements of the Alpine Fault, New Zealand

Listed in PANGAEA

We use laboratory shearing experiments to smeasure the frictional properties of fault related rocks and their precursors depending on the lithology, presence of pore fluid, effective normal stress, and temperature.

Description

Conditions are appropriate for the surface to several kilometres depth on the Alpine Fault (from 50-100 MPa, 22-160 °C, fluid-saturated).
