Pogonistes Chaudoir 1872

Description Length: 4.0–6.0 mm. Tegument testaceous or brown (in the last case, with bronze sheen). Palps yellow, lighter than the testaceous legs and antennae.

Pronotum little or nothing transverse; the anterior angles may be protruding or not, and occasionally have with tiny setae. Lateral sulcus of the pronotum narrow; hind angles hardly conspicuous. Base of the pronotum as wide as or less wide than the base of the elytra.

Elytra generally convex. Legs testaceous, never darker than the body tegument. Prosternum covered by fine setae.

Median lobe of the aedeagus slightly arcuate and clearly directed down. Chorology The genus is represented over the whole Palaearctic Region (Bousquet 2017).
