Oil-bearing energy plants (KF-705.2)

The oil-bearing energy plants collection at the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden includes winter and spring crops, mainly from the cabbage family, such as winter cress, turnip mustard, and false flax.
Description
The department has developed around 20 high-oil-yielding cultivars, many registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties, for biodiesel production. These crops demonstrate high oil content (40–49%), seed yields of 3–6 t/ha, and oil outputs of 1000–1200 kg/ha, along with substantial biomass yields (30–60 t/ha fresh, 5–10 t/ha dry matter).
Such high productivity makes them promising sources of renewable energy for Ukraine.
