Additional new taxa of Babinskaiidae (Insecta: Neuroptera) from the mid-Cretaceous of Myanmar, with supplementary information on genital characters of the family

The family Babinskaiidae represents a diverse and extinct lineage of the neuropteran superfamily Myrmeleontoidea. The species and morphological diversification of this family is important for understanding the early evolution of antlions and their related groups. Here we describe a new genus and two new species of Babinskaiidae, namely Paradoxobabinskaia menglingyui gen. et sp. nov. and Stenobabinskaia zhiqiae sp. nov., from the mid-Cretaceous of northern Myanmar.

Both new species have their genitalia well preserved, providing new information on the genital morphology of Babinskaiidae. Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive key to all currently described species of Babinskaiidae.
