Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System (RCRIS) Data Files

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The agency used the system to monitor the approval process for facilities seeking Federal and state permission to handle hazardous waste, as authorized by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as amended by the Hazardous and Solid Waste Amendments of 1984.

Description

Records from RCRIS were used in conjunction with other agency records to collect data on the generation and management of hazardous waste by the facilities.

These records contain information on facilities that handled hazard ous waste, and their efforts to comply with Federal and state regulations on environmental quality. The files identify the location and ownership of the facilities, and include permit approval, compliance evaluation and corrective action data. They include records from treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs), transporters, large quantity generators (LQGs), and small quantity generators.
