The MCS-NENA catalogue is the output of a Mesoscale Convective Systems (MCS) identification and tracking algorithm that generates hourly tracks of MCSs over a northeastern North America domain from January 2015 to December 2022.
Description
The catalogue is constructed by integrating multiple data sources, including the ERA5 reanalysis, two radar datasets (STAGE IV and MRMS), satellite products (IMERG and MERGIR), and two numerical simulations performed using the sixth version of the Canadian Regional Climate Model (CRCM6-GEM5) at horizontal resolutions of around 12 km and 2.5 km.
In addition to MCS tracks, the dataset includes variables characterizing their associated precipitation, propagation speed, size, and intensity across the study domain. It offers valuable information for assessing the impacts of MCS on precipitation patterns over northeastern North America.
