Mindfulness-based interventions on stress during the antenatal period and infancy and the lived experience of primary caregiving parents of individuals with a learning disability transitioning to adulthood

<b>A systematic review and meta-analysis of the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions on stress in mothers, fathers, primary caregivers during the antenatal period and infancy (0-3 years)</b>:<br><br>Systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions on parental/caregiver related stress during the antenatal period and infancy (0-3 years). Experimental studies (RCTs) that evaluated the effectiveness of mindfulness-based parenting interventions on parenting related stress in mothers, fathers and primary caregivers were included.

Twelve trials were included: 6 in the meta-analysis and 6 in the narrative synthesis. Overall, both the meta-analysis and narrative synthesis of RCTs demonstrated a lack of statistically significant difference between the control and experimental groups. Methodological issues, clinical implications and ideas for future research have been discussed.<br><br><b>The lived experience of primary caregiving parents of individuals with a learning disability transitioning to adulthood</b>:<br><br>This study employed an Interpretive Phenological Analytical methodology and included 8 primary caregiving parents.
