This directory contains data and analysis files associated with the thesis titled 'Bloomin' barcodes: High-throughput biodiversity assessment of a harmful algal bloom' where a high-throughput single-cell isolation method (SHAPE) was validated to supplement culture collections and molecular reference databases.
Description
The method was applied to Fairy Lake, Acton, Ontario, a small urban lake affected by recurrent harmful algal blooms (HABs).
SHAPE was combined with FlowCAM® imaging and multi-marker DNA metabarcoding targeting 16S, 18S, and 23S rRNA genes to characterize the HAB-associated microbial community.
