Preliminary checklist of the family Tineidae (Lepidoptera) of the Region of Murcia (Spain)

The Murcia Region (Southeastern Iberian Peninsula) has a great diversity of Lepidopteran fauna, as a zoogeographical crossroads and biodiversity hotspot.

Description

A faunistic checklist is presented, including 33 species of the family Tineidae in the Region of Murcia, of which 12 are recorded for the first time in the region, 16 confirm their previous presence, and five are known solely through literature. The Mediterranean-Asiatic chorotype is the most prevalent in the area, and the Thermomediterranean bioclimatic belt exhibits the highest species richness.
