Landslides triggered by 6 February 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes (Türkiye)

Numerous secondary hazards were triggered in the region, including thousands of landslides. This study investigated the landslides triggered by the 6 February 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes.

On the February 7 th , the General Directorate of Mapping, Türkiye initiated several aerial photogrammetric flights and continued for several days. Although the adverse meteorological conditions affected the image quality, valuable data with a nominal resolution of 25 cm could be produced over an area of 108,627 km 2 . By comparing post-earthquake aerial orthophotos with pre-earthquake imagery stored in archives, we identified a total of 2,596 landslides, presumably triggered by the events, and analyzed their characteristics.
