UNIS AB202 2026 Phytoplankton data from Ny-Ålesund

This dataset is a species list of different phytoplankton observed during the UNIS field course for AB202 in Kongsfjorden, near Ny-Ålesund.
Description
Four different locations were sampled over four days. The first site sampled was performed from the west side of the Ny-Ålesund pier, labelled Ny-Ålesund Pier West.
The second site sampled was performed by boat, labelled ST1 (station 1), an area not previously surveyed. These first two sites were sampled the same day by the same group. The third site sampled was KB3 (Kongsfjorden Biology), a research site with annual sampling.

The fourth and fifth samples had to be performed from the pier due to boat trouble. They were both performed at the east side of the pier, labelled Ny-Ålesund Pier East. All samples were analysed and identified to either species or genus.
The individual count of each species was not recorded, due to very low abundancies of phytoplankton. Each group recorded which species they observed, and the dataset is therefore sorted into locations and which species were present.
