Statutes of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, starting from 2001

The Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) is a Lithuanian political party active since 1990. LVŽS is a historical Lithuanian political party whose origins date back to 1922, when the party’s predecessor – the Lithuanian Popular Peasants' Union (LVLS) – was established.

During the first years of the restored Lithuanian state, the LVLS actively participated in political life, and after the 1926 Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) elections, it became a member of the ruling coalition. However, after the 1926 coup d'état, the activities of political parties were restricted, and in 1936 all parties were banned, with the sole exception of the Lithuanian Nationalist Union. In 1940, following the occupation of Lithuania by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, only the Lithuanian Communist Party was a legal political force.
