From Roots to Blossom: The Mediating Roles of Emotional Stability and Core Self-Evaluation in the Intergenerational Transmission of Mindfulness

The present study conducted a questionnaire survey among 773 adolescents to construct a chain mediation model exploring the mediating roles of emotional stability and core self-evaluation in the relationship between mindful parenting and adolescents’ mindfulness.

The results showed that mindful parenting was positively associated with adolescents’ mindfulness. Moreover, mindful parenting not only directly and positively predicted adolescents’ mindfulness, but also indirectly predicted it through the mediating effects of emotional stability and core self-evaluation, as well as through their chain mediation effect. These findings enrich the theoretical framework of the relationship between mindful parenting and adolescents’ mindfulness and provide empirical evidence for family-based interventions aimed at promoting adolescents’ mindfulness development.
