Exploring fNIRS-guided neurofeedback for supplementary motor area training in Parkinson’s Disease and healthy older adults

Listed in FDM-DOI-Vergabe

This dataset contains functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) recordings, electromyography (EMG) and inertial measurement unit data collected during supplementary motor area (SMA) neurofeedback (NFB) training experiments in individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and healthy older adults.

Description

Participants completed motor imagery and NFB paradigms designed to evaluate voluntary modulation of SMA activity using real-time fNIRS feedback.

The dataset includes: - raw fNIRS signals (including HbO and HbR measurements) of three groups (noNFB = healthy older adults not receiving NFB; NFB = older healthy adults receiving NFB; PD-NFF = PD patients receiving NFB), - NFB task timing and experimental annotations, participant demographics - EMG and IMU data The data support research on NFB learning, motor imagery, SMA regulation, and non-invasive brain–computer interface approaches in PD and healthy aging.
