Historical biodiversity information preserved in the collections of the Kherson Regional Museum of Local Lore.

The data were mobilized from four published catalogues describing the museum collections of fishes, reptiles, birds, and mammals. The dataset comprises 2,324 records representing approximately 454 scientific names.

The specimens and observations documented in the source catalogues date from 1894 to 2015. Most records originate from Ukraine, particularly southern Ukraine and the Black Sea region, while the historical museum collections also contain material collected in Moldova, Turkmenistan, Russia, and Oman. The dataset preserves information available in the original catalogues, including scientific names, collection dates, localities, collectors, individual counts and other specimen-related information where available.
