Supplemental data for: Finding the perfect perch: factors influencing perching and roosting choices in growing pullets and mature laying hens

The purpose of this research was to determine whether laying hen pullets of different strains would prefer to perform daytime perching and nighttime roosting on perches of increasing diameters as they grow, and whether the location of the perch within the pen impacted its use.

We also investigated the use of three different elevated structures by mature laying hens with different health conditions and the method of locomotion used by these birds to navigate to and from these structures. Observational data was analyzed using SAS Proc GLIMMIX.
