Graduation Stage and the Association Between Employment Anxiety and Sleep Quality: A Cross-Sectional Online Survey of Chinese University Students

<p dir="ltr">This cross-sectional online survey examined whether graduation stage modifies the association between employment anxiety and sleep quality among Chinese university students approaching graduation.
Description
Data were analyzed from 1,256 valid responses recruited from multiple Chinese universities. Participants were classified into a graduation preparation group and a graduation transition group.
Students in the transition group reported higher employment anxiety and poorer sleep quality than those in the preparation group. Employment anxiety was positively correlated with global Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score, particularly sleep latency, daytime dysfunction, and sleep disturbances. The anxiety-sleep association was stronger in the transition group than in the preparation group, and hierarchical regression showed a significant interaction between employment anxiety and graduation stage.

Career intention was associated with employment anxiety but not global sleep quality. Bedtime music use was common in both groups, but frequency and subjective evaluation differed by graduation stage.
