<p dir="ltr">Image and Performance Enhancing Drug (IPED) use is a growing public health concern among athletes and young people, shaped by sport, fitness, and social media environments that influence attitudes, risk perceptions, and access.
Description
This controlled quasi-experimental pre–post study tested the short-term effects of a multimedia prevention campaign on IPED-related knowledge, awareness, and risk perception. Adult students and athletes (N = 549) received videos only or videos plus a workshop, completing questionnaires before and immediately after the intervention and rating the materials post-test with the Audiovisual Production Assessment Scale (APAS).
Scores increased significantly from pre- to post-test overall (32.28 to 35.23; d_z=0.58, p<.001) and in all four population-by-condition groups. A three-way interaction (time × population × condition; F(1,545)=27.28, p<.001) indicated that athletes gained more from videos plus workshop, students from videos alone. APAS ratings were high in both populations (p = .486).
