Replication data for Fig 14.14, BTPDs, Females, Adult body mass at mating vs weaning, 09 May 2026

Listed in data.InDoRES

Description

I created this file from SYSTAT file = ALLFEMWT.SYS, which was created on 19 Nov 1991 I assume all data in SYSTAT file = ALLFEMWT.SYS were checked TWO TIMES, because I used those data for Hoogland 1995 (my first book) Some new data were added on 16 Jan 1992 and on 09 Feb 2012 BTPD female additions after creation on 19 Nov 1991: H in 1978, H2 in 1981; RR7 in 1982, 67 in 1983, CR in 1985, WARS in 1986, 60 in 1986 I assume that this file was checked TWO TIMES for my book.

Note

For Autumn weights, I do NOT use weights from August or September. All weights are from October through early December. So, for example, I have deleted MANY weights from August and September 1980.

Body mass in previous October = BTPD female body mass in October through early December before mating season Body mass during mating season = body mass just before, during, or just after mating season Body mass when juveniles were emerging from natal nursery-burrows = body mass just before, during, or just after period with juveniles were first appearing aboveground. If BTPD female weaned a litter, I tried to obtain her body mass just before, at, or just after her offspring first appeared aboveground.

Body mass in previous October = body mass about 4 months before mating season. All body masses for mating season and when juveniles were emerging are from 1984. All body masses from previous October were from September or October 1983.

These data used for Fig 14.14 in Hoogland 2026. Data in this 1984 EXCEL file are from 1984 only; cumulative data from all years were also statistically significant Adult body masses include information from 1-year olds (yearlings) and >=2-year olds Female age = number of years since first emergence from natal nursery-burrows All body masses are in GRAMS. This EXCEL file ready for longterm storage on 07 May 2025.

Year = 84 = 1984 I defined mating season as the time interval between (and including) first copulation and last copulation Data on the same line are from the SAME BTPD FEMALE This EXCEL file also contains information from October body masses, which I did not use for Fig 14.14. Blank cell or <.> means missing data. All BTPD data from the single Rankin Ridge study-colony at Wind Cave National Park.
