EC-PAG01-03 25A: EEG and Biometric Dataset from Anticipatory Thinking Sessions in Architecture Students

This dataset was collected during the course Research and Architectural Design Studio, aimed at undergraduate students in Architecture at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Description
Two data collection sessions were conducted: Pre-phase (April 19): Students performed a causal analysis of a future scenario they selected. Post-phase (May 2): Students were asked to adapt a virtual space based on the projected scenario previously developed in class.
During both sessions, participants engaged in immersive experiences using Virtual Reality (VR) while their neurophysiological and physiological responses were recorded. The objective was to analyze the cognitive process of anticipatory thinking and its relationship to emotional engagement, motivation, and attention within an educational design context. Biometric Devices Used Muse 2 EEG Headband: Records brain electrical activity (EEG) at 256 Hz from four channels (TP9, AF7, AF8, TP10).

Embrace Plus Wristband (Empatica): Captures electrodermal activity (EDA), heart rate via photoplethysmography (BVP), and skin temperature at varying frequencies (1–208 Hz). The purpose of the data collection is to identify physiological and neurological patterns associated with anticipatory thinking processes triggered by design-based educational interventions.
