Uniaxial compression and direct tension tests data of cylindrical marble samples

Listed in Teesside University Research Data Repository

Uniaxial compression and direct tension test data of cylindrical marble samples.

Description

The marble samples had a height of 100 mm and a diameter of 50 mm, and the primary mineral grains size vary from 1.0 mm to 3.0 mm. A uniform loading rate of 0.15 mm/min was applied during the tests.

Notably, during direct tension test, we used Loctite E-120 HP epoxy adhensive to securely bonded the marble sample to the loading plate. After seven days of curing at ambient temperature, this adhesive attains a tensile strength of 41 MPa, significantly surpassing the inherent tensile strength of the rock materials.
