Pollinator diversity in traffic-related urban green spaces in Finland

The dataset includes information on species-level biodiversity of insect pollinators in traffic areas across three Finnish cities: Helsinki (60°19’N, 24°95'E), Tampere (61°29'N, 23°47'E), and Turku (60°27'N, 22°16'E).
Description
The data were collected during July-August 2022 in the period of mean flowering phenophase of pollinator-friendly plants in Finland. Three types of traffic-related green spaces: traffic islands, road verges, and parking lots, were evaluated for the biodiversity of insect pollinators with a sweep netting sampling along transects and further taxonomic identification.
Five replicates per green space type per city were visited in urban areas and five in suburban areas in all study locations, which resulted in a total of 30 green spaces evaluated per city. Insects were sampled from 64 locations, as they were not present in the remaining 23 ones. A detailed description of vegetation is given in a separate study (Skaldina et al. 2024).
