Epidemiological Survey of Depressive Disorder in Kaohsiung Metropolis: Development of a Culture-relevant \" Taiwanese Depression Screening Questionnaire \" (I)

The purpose of this research project is to develop a culture-relevant depression screen questionnaire: \" Taiwanese Depression Screening Questionnaire\" (TDSQ) which would then be used to conduct a two-stage (screening questionnaire and psychiatric interview) cross-sectional community epidemiological survey to assess risk factors affecting the distribution of depressive disorder in Kaohsiung Metropolis. During the first year, the investigators developed a culture-relevant depression screen questionnaire based on the results of previous studies and related references.

The study included two stages： pretest and pilot study. Among the subjects of pretest, by purposive sampling, forty eight patients each are from the depressive disorder and the anxiety disorder groups from GMH and Chung Shan Medical & Dental College Hospital (CSMDCH) psychiatric clinics. By two-stage sampling, totally one hundred and seven subjects recruited for a pilot study from Jen-Wu Hsiang of Kaohsiung County which is purported to verify its validity, reliability ： e.g, internal consistency, criterion-related validity, conventional validity index, and ROC curve analysis.
