Coastal Biodiversity Monitoring in the Eastern Shore Islands Area of Interest using Environmental DNA - 2024

Listed in GBIF

In this project we conduct seasonal beach seining and eDNA sampling in the Eastern Shore Islands, a coastal "area of interest", and outside reference sites in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Description

The records contained here include eDNA metabarcoding results from the 12S (targeting fish) and COI (targeting general biodiversity) markers. At each of five coastal sampling stations we conduct beach seining to catch and measure fish, and collect water samples for eDNA metabarcoding.

Beach seining and eDNA can complement one another, since neither method will capture every species found at the sampling sites on their own. All samples in this resource were collected in 2024.
