Resources of protected plant species in Polish botanical gardens and arboreta

It was created to document the current state of ex situ conservation of the Polish protected flora and to provide a nationwide overview of the representation of protected species maintained in botanical collections.The dataset was compiled from a questionnaire survey conducted in 30 Polish botanical gardens and arboreta (16 botanical gardens and 14 arboreta).

The survey covered vascular plant taxa protected under the Polish Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of 9 October 2014, comprising 425 protected taxa. The resulting dataset documents the occurrence of 308 species maintained in ex situ collections. Each record represents the presence of a protected species within an individual institution, providing a comprehensive overview of protected plant collections in Poland.The dataset was developed as part of a postgraduate diploma thesis completed within the Valorisation and Conservation of Natural Areas programme at the University of Gdańsk.
