Data from: Socioeconomic determinants of antibiotic consumption in the state of São Paulo, Brazil: the effect of restricting over-the-counter sales

These data were organised calculating annual oral antibiotic consumption for each municipality, and merged with socioeconomic variables, available from a national census, to create this data file, using the statistical software STATA 13.0.

Predicted consumption was calculated using linear regression, and the policy effect variables was calculated as follows: (100*(Observed consumption in 2011 and 2012-predicted consumption in 2011 and 2012))/(predicted consumption in 2011 and 2012). Sheet 2 contains data on monthly oral antibiotic consumption in the state of São Paulo during the same period.
