soil sampling from long-term climate manipulatioin plots in Zackenberg, Greenland in 2012

Each plot has five climate manipulation treatments with five replication. In 2012, we collected 75 soil cores (15 cm depth) in Salix arctica plots to analyze soil microbial community structure and soil organic carbon quality.

Increased temperature and the amount of cloud cover are expected in Zackenberg, Greenland in the future. Professor Anders Michelsen at the University of Copenhagen set up long-term monitoring plots to investigate effects these environmental changes on ecosystem of Zackenberg. We are studying on changes in microbes and soil properties in response to increasing summer temperature, decreasing solar radiation and changing growing periods.
