This dataset contains a balanced panel of 17 countries observed annually over the period 2013-2024 (N x T = 204 observations).
Description
It supports the panel regression analysis in the associated article examining the macroeconomic and regulatory correlates of private credit market growth. Variables: 1.
Country - Country name (17 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States) 2. Year - Observation year (2013-2024) 3. GDPGrowth_pct - Annual real GDP growth rate (%), sourced from World Bank WDI 4.

InterestRate_pct - Policy interest rate (%), sourced from national central banks 5. BankCapitalRatio_pct - Bank capital-to-assets ratio (%), sourced from IMF Financial Soundness Indicators 6. RegulatoryIndex - Composite prudential stringency index [0, 1], constructed from BCBS implementation indicators, equally weighted 7.
BankLendingVolume_USD_bn - Total bank lending volume (USD bn), sourced from BIS and national central banks 8.
