Uncertainty Analysis of a Radome Flush Orifice Air Motion System for the Measurement of Aircraft Incident Angles

Listed in National Center for Atmospheric Research

This analysis is intended to establish a detailed measurement uncertainty for the present radome air motion systems used at NCAR and to provide a working document that may be altered, as technology advances with improved calibration procedures and hardware.

Description

It is meant to serve as a guide to illustrate the investigative detail required to better understand airborne meteorological measurement systems and the areas of application.

A significant application of this particular uncertainty analysis when coupled with Inertial Navigation System errors will provide the necessary statistics for a three dimensional wind error analysis.
