Safe haven: policy responses to refugee-like situations

Listed in ZivaHub and Deakin Research Online — shown once because both records carry DOI 10.25446/oxford.33385675.v1

This report looks at immigration to the United States, along with the issue of granting safe haven, to argue that U.S. policies for handling direct arrivals of migrants who have fled potentially life-threatening situations are inadequate.

Description

It concludes that there is need for a mechanism recognized in statute through which the U.S. can respond to the presence of humanitarian exiles who are not covered under existing refugee law.
