MPAS-A Aquaplanet Simulations with Different Sea-Surface Temperatures

This is in part due to existing climate model deficiencies and due to our limited understanding of tropical convection. To alleviate those limitations, this dataset contains post-processed output from aquaplanet experiments using different sea-surface temperatures (SST).

The aquaplanet framework is an idealized representation of Earth, enabling fundamental studies on oceanic weather systems and its interactions with the mean climate. Three experiments are included, all of which use the Model for Prediction Across Scales-Atmosphere version 8.0 with 3-km cell spacing between 10S-30N and 15 km cell spacing elsewhere. The experiments are named CTL, minus4K, and plus4K.
