Co-producing urban knowledge in motion: collaborative experimental methods for researching moving infrastructures

As contingent, moving infrastructures, they register diverse urban entities in their operations and produce new urban conditions and politics. How, then, can we empirically research the often obscure workings of infrastructures that are also in constant motion?

Addressing the diffuse and fleeting nature of moving infrastructures, this paper proposes a methodology that foregrounds movement as both an analytic focus and a mode of enactment. Drawing on a multimethod mobile ethnography with platform delivery workers in Seoul, it shows how the dialogic synthesis of mobile methods helps unravel the infrastructural processes, practices, and politics of making the city through movement.
