Checklist of the Birds of Kenya

It brings together historical checklist knowledge and contemporary evidence to support biopersity research, conservation planning, bird recording, and the interpretation of changes in Kenya's bird list. Its scope includes native and naturalized species, including resident, migratory, vagrant, and historically recorded birds, across Kenya's terrestrial, freshwater, coastal, and marine environments.

The checklist draws on eBird observations, earlier national checklists, curated information for species whose records are not publicly available, and decisions of the East African Rarities Committee (EARC). Scientific names, English names, and classification follow AviList, with the taxonomic reference and source versions documented for each release. The GBIF dataset contains species and the higher taxa needed to represent their classification.
