The objective of this paper is to analyze the suggestions made by the coordinators of the 2010 Brazilian Oral Health Survey (SBBrasil 2010 Project) for future national oral health surveys .
Description
This is a qualitative cross-sectional study. Data collection was done through an electronic semi-structured questionnaire.
Participants were practitioners from the Brazilian National Health System (SUS) as well as university teachers who worked as the survey coordinators. Answers were classified into categories, according to Bardin’s content analysis. Suggestions were mainly related to changes in the sampling methodology and working team, operational aspects, financial aid, analysis and dissemination of results.

We hope that this study may contribute to the discussion among the professionals of the field, seeking continued improvements of oral health surveillance in Brazil.
