The Study of Pet Dog Selection and Its Influence on Owner-dog Bond

There has been a strong association between man being and dogs for many thousands of years.

Description

Dogs were important for the provision of food , transport , and as a focus for religious worship at early days . However, the role of pet dogs in human family , following further industrialized lifestyle of human society including Taiwan, have changed significantly and become more and more important.

Under this circumstance , the subjects of \" human-animal bond \" have been mphasized continually and further studied in recent 30 years. The aims of this study are , (1) to understand the details of pet dog selection of the owners in Taipei area, and , (2) to understand the factors which can influence pet dog selection of the owners through questionnaire survey . The results showed that the main reasons of owner\'s choice the pet dog were emotional and irrational (54%) and most of dogs were chosen by outer attribute .

Examination on the model of the influence of pet dog selection on owner-dog bond revealed that \"expectation of owners on their pet dogs\"was the most significant variable.
