A. SUMMARY This dataset represents the surveyed southerly boundary of San Francisco County.
Description
It is intended to provide a visual reference of the county line based on an official Record of Survey. The dataset is not a legal boundary layer, but rather a graphical depiction to support general understanding and mapping applications.
B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED The dataset was derived from CAD files prepared in support of Record of Survey #9999, which was prepared and filed jointly by the San Francisco and San Mateo County Surveyors. The CAD geometry was converted into GIS format (shapefile), preserving the alignment and positional intent of the surveyed boundary as shown on the recorded survey. C. UPDATE PROCESS This dataset is static and reflects the conditions documented in the recorded survey as of June 26, 2020.

Updates would only occur if a new Record of Survey or other authoritative legal document supersedes the existing survey. Any such updates should follow the same process: derive geometry from the official survey record and document the source clearly. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET Intended for reference and visualization purposes only, such as mapping and planning, this dataset does not constitute a boundary determination and must not be used for property location or any legal purpose.
The authoritative source is the Record of Survey, Document No. 2020944699, filed June 26, 2020, with the San Francisco Assessor-Recorder. In the event of any discrepancy, the recorded survey shall control. F. KNOWN USES This dataset is commonly used for mapping, visualization, and general planning purposes where a representation of the San Francisco County boundary is needed.
It may support web maps, internal city applications, and reference mapping, but is not suitable for legal, surveying, or property boundary determination.
