Comprehensive Clinical Evaluation Program (CCEP) Files

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The Clinical Information Technology Program Office in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) created the Comprehensive Clinical Evaluation Program (CCEP) to document the medical evaluation of members of the armed forces and veterans with health problems who served in the Persian Gulf War.

Description

The agency also used these data to prepare special reports to the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Congress.

The records consist of special evaluations of members of the armed forces, veterans, beneficiaries, and others who believed that they may have a medical problem resulting from deployment to the Persian Gulf during the Persian Gulf War time frame or from exposure of someone who participated in the deployment. The process employed by CCEP was to closely study reported changes in an individual's health from the perspective of possible exposure to environmental substances.

The official medical records of the individual served as the basis for diagnosis of medical problems and the resulting medical care of the patient. CCEP focused on clinical inquiry into patient's reported condition and its possible relationship to environmental exposure that could be a cause of that condition. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).

See the ARC catalog entry for this series for more information on this data and how to order it.
