Yaruman Cultural Heritage Signs

These bilingual Jaru–English interpretive signs showcase historical, cultural, and linguistic knowledge, featuring a Dreaming story, maps, photographs, and artworks by local artists. The signage is installed at the entrance of Yaruman (Ringer Soak) in the Kimberley, WA.

The project was led by the GMAAAC Committee in collaboration with Josua Dahmen, guided by Elders and community members. A high-resolution digital copy of the signs is archived with the Central Land Council.

Directing committee members: Kylie McDonald, Lillian Sampi, Javin Sturt, and Dwayne Jack

Language consultants: Nida Tchooga, Mary Seela, Judy Tchooga, Clare Gordon, Angela Gordon, Michael Rex, and Barbara Seela

Artists: Mary Seela, Clara Yundi, Clare Gordon, Reggie Gordon

Photographer: Jon Rhodes

Linguist and coordinator: Josua Dahmen
