Replication Data for: Fig 16.9, GPDs, all three colonies, MC vs stage of mating season, 30 May 2025

Listed in data.InDoRES

Description

This file includes data from ALL THREE GPD colonies (PEFO, RMC, and VCC) All data in this file checked TWO TIMES Percentage of GPD females that elicited >=1 MC during 1st third of mating season = 122 / 122 + 183 = 122 / 305 = 40.0% Percentage of GPD females that DID NOT ELICIT >=1 MC during 1st third of mating season = 183 / 122 + 183 = 122 / 305 = 60.0% Percentage of GPD females that elicited >=1 MC during 2ND third of mating season = 200 / 116 + 200 = 116 / 316 = = 36.7% Percentage of GPD females that DID NOT ELICIT >=1 MC during 2nd third of mating season = 200 / 116 = 200 = 200 / 316 = 63.3% Percentage of GPD females that elicited >=1 MC during 3rd third of mating season = 165 / 165 + 143 = 165 / 308 = 53.6% Percentage of GPD females that DID NOT ELICIT >=1 MC during 2nd third of mating season = 143 / 165 + 143= 143 / 308 = 46.4% For stage of the mating season, I divided each mating season into three thirds.

Each third contained approximately one third of all the females that mated each year. Thirds are based on NUMBER OF FEMALES rather than date of year For this EXCEL file, frequency = weight = freq MC = Mating Call MC or NO MC = 0 = Male did NOT give MC MC or NO MC = 1 = Male DID give MC GPD Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC, studied in 2013 through 2016) was at Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP). GPD Visitor Center Colony (VCC, studied in 2017 and 2018) was also at VCNP.

GPD colony at Petrified Forest National Park (PEFO) was studied from 1989 through 1995. These data used for Fig 16.9 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 24 March 2025.

I considered data from the same prairie dog in different years to be independent.

Note

My first version of EXCEL file for Fig 16.9 did NOT include data from PEFO. This EXCEL file DOES include data from PEFO, RMC, and VCC. Mixing means that juveniles from different litters mixed and interacted before I could capture all of them--so that I could not accurately assign maternities or littermate sibships.

For these data, P = 0.001 for 3x2 chi-square test For stage of the mating season, I divided each mating season into three thirds. Each third contained approximately one third of all the females that mated each year. Thirds are based on NUMBER OF FEMALES rather than date of year.

Which third = 1 = first third of mating season Which third = 2 = second third of mating season Which third = 3 = third third of mating season For this EXCEL file, frequency = weight = freq Data in this GPD EXCEL file are SUMMARIES of raw data from field notes. These data used for Fig 16.9 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 24 March 2025.

I considered data from the same prairie dog in different years to be independent. Filename = Fig 16.9, GPDs, MC vs stage of mating season, 30 May 2025
