Dataset on impact resistance of dactyl club of mantis shrimp-inspired fiber-reinforced composites

Listed in ScienceDB

Description

The low-velocity impact test was carried out in room temperature by the Instron CEAST 9350 impact machine, the weight of the impactor was 5.41 kg, the impact height was 377.21 mm, and the impact speed was 2.72 m/s, the impact energy was 20.01 J. The hemi spherical impactor with a radius of 8 mm was released in corresponding height to achieve the required energy. All the four specimens were fixed on the base by four rubber clamps.

The low- velocity impact tests were repeated up to five times at the same point of every sample or until the laminate was significantly damaged.
