Data content (data file/table name, observation index content included) This data set includes the global 10 m resolution dynamic data set of mangrove distribution in 2020, which can provide data support for ecological conservation, mangrove protection and restoration, and regional sustainable development. b. Construction purpose Mangrove is one of the ecosystems with the highest biodiversity and productivity on earth.
Globally, about 75% of low-lying tropical coastlines receiving freshwater drainage support mangrove systems. They provide protection for coastal areas by attenuating wave energy and storm surges, stabilizing the coastline from floods and erosion. Mangroves have effective carbon sequestration and storage capacity, so they are also important for mitigating climate change.
