Measurements of oceanic methane and carbon dioxide made during the Meteor 43_2 research cruise in the North Atlantic, as part of the JGOFS and OMEX programmes, during December 1998 and January 1999

The cruise began on 28th December 1998 and ended on 14th January 1999 with the spatial coverage of +37N and +42N latitude and +9W and +11W longitude.

The data set consists of: -146 measurements of the concentration of methane (CH4) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by gas chromatography; -145 measurements of the saturation of methane (CH4) in the water column (dissolved phase), computed from concentration; -169 measurements of the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2) in the water column, computed from pH and alkalinity; and -169 measurements of the concentration of carbon (total inorganic) (TCO2) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase), computed from pH and alkalinity.
