Emergency Department Visit Rate Due To Asthma - This indicator shows the rate of emergency department visits due to asthma per 10,000 population.
Description
Asthma is a chronic health condition which causes very serious breathing problems. When properly controlled through close outpatient medical supervision, individuals and families can manage their asthma without costly emergency intervention.
In Maryland, there are nearly 50,000 emergency department visit related to asthma each year.
