This tax assessment register contains data on the almost total population of Leiden in that year, including information on occupation, taxation, family composition, domestic servants, location in the city and poverty, on the level of all the heads of households.

In fact, it can therefore be considered as one of the very rare local census registers of the city before 1800. The information from this source has been combined with that from the property tax register, "het verpondingskohier" of 1749.
