Data and analysis code for: Effects of short hot-water treatment and crown-targeted non-pesticide sprays on crown rot development and postharvest quality of export banana

Crown rot index was assessed repeatedly during ripening, while soluble solids, pulp firmness, peel colour, titratable acidity, and ascorbic acid were measured at the final assessment.</p><p dir="ltr">The primary disease analysis used a cumulative-logit ordinal generalised estimating equation with categorical ripening day, supplier-lot blocking, and a treatment-by-storage-duration interaction. Storage-specific treatment contrasts were adjusted for multiple comparisons.

The package also contains supplier-lot sensitivity analyses, disease progression summaries, fruit-quality models, treatment-ranking analyses, and reproducible figure-generation scripts.</p><p dir="ltr">The non-pesticide solutions were applied directly to the cut crown using a hand-held trigger sprayer. The procedure had been calibrated for consistent application, but the nominal spray volume and trigger count were not retained in the archived records.

A matched crown-water spray control was not included. Incidental peel black spotting following spray contact was not systematically assigned or scored; therefore, these data should not be interpreted as evidence of whole-fruit spray safety.</p><p dir="ltr">The journal Supplementary Information, containing Tables S1–S9 and Figures S1–S7, is submitted separately and is not duplicated in this research-data record.</p>
