Fish Health Unit Authorised Sites

An aquaculture production business, a put and take fishery or a commercial aquarium, must obtain Fish Health Authorisation from the Marine Institute via an online application process provided through the Fish Health unit website fishhealth.ie/fhu/fish-health-authorisation/apply-fish-health-authorisation. COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 2006/88/EC of 24 October 2006 on animal health requirements for aquaculture animals and products thereof, and on the prevention and control of certain diseases in aquatic animals known as the Fish Health Directive.

The Marine Institute (Fish Health Unit) is the Competent Authority responsible for the implementation of Council Directive 2006/88/EC. A Competent Authority is an organisation that has been legally delegated or invested authority, capacity, or power to perform a designated function. The Register is complete as necessary.
