Index to Chemical Experiment Station Reports

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The agency created this index to access reports held by the American University Experiment Station.

Description

The index is a portion of an historical research project whose purpose was to establish an information repository for Operation Safe Removal. That project searched for chemical and ordnance contaminants that the military and the Bureau of Mines might have left behind on American University grounds and the surrounding area that was used as a military base during and immediately after World War I. The index consists of two files.

The Reports file includes data about the volume or report number, the title of the report, the date of the report, report cross-reference information and report location within the collection. The Analysis file includes information related to the testing conducted and has data about the volume or report number, the chemical agent or subject of the test, the test location, and type of test. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
